George Glenn
Founder-President

George D. Glenn is the Founder-President of the Concerned Christian Men, Inc., an organization that works with young men 6-17 years of age, determined to be “fathers to the fatherless”, since 1996. Mr. Glenn is a native Chicagoan, educated at Harvard University trained in the Chicago Public School system, Ruggles elementary & Senn HS.  Mr. Glenn spent twenty-four years in the investment banking industry working with William Blair & Company, Merrill Lynch, Drexel Burnham Lambert (Vice-President) and Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb (Senior Vice-President). His heart was moved to action by the present and obvious need for urban boys to be molded and shaped into men by role models with moral and spiritual integrity. Mr. Glenn believed that with the right training and programming, Christian men from the community could fill this void. For the last 20 years he has worked tirelessly to make this vision a reality.

Matthew Brewer
Secretary

Matthew Brewer is a partner at the law firm Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott LLP, serves on the agency’s Board of Commissioners. At Bartlit Beck, Brewer practices commercial litigation in federal and state courts and advises clients on legal and business issues. His practice includes breach of contract, patent infringement, false advertising, employment, antitrust, and other commercial disputes. Brewer attended Stanford University where he served as student body president and obtained his B.A with honors. After college, he worked in the Chinese music industry as a consultant on marketing and intellectual property issues. Brewer earned a J.D. from Yale Law School and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. At Harvard, he received the prestigious Bert King Award, which recognizes individuals for their dedication to service as well as their academic, professional and leadership accomplishments. Brewer grew up on the South Side of Chicago.

Dr. A. Ja'ami Dawan

Dr. A. Ja’ami Dawan is a consultant at Thinking Computers, Inc. and conducts faculty professional development workshops in distance, blended and classroom learning. Dr. Dawan also conducts research and analysis on new and emerging technology. He received a Bachelors of Art degree in History from Chicago State University and subsequently acquired his Masters in Human Performance and Training from Governors State University. Dr. Dawan earned his doctoral degree from Northern Illinois University (NIU) in DeKalb, IL. His dissertation is titled, ”African American Students’ Perceptions of a Technology Enhanced Learning Environment: A Case Study.” In July of 2014, he published a book titled, “Profiles of Successful
African-American Men: A Guide to Help Boys and Young Men Become Successful.”

Edward Prentice

Ed has become a recognized speaker and representative in the eLearning and eMedia communities, and each year is called upon to deliver presentations, webinars, and speeches at numerous events and conferences around the country. Through Ed, Centrax has been represented at events for: ASTD, CCASTD, Elearning Guild, ISPI, Executive Learning Leaders, Chicago ISPI, Learnshare, CompTia, Practicing Law Institute, National Public Relations Society, and Adobe Presentations Society, to name a few.

 

From the inception of Centrax, Ed has always desired to give back to the community that has given so much to him. He actively promotes learning and plays a role in organizations such as The Golden Apple, Concerned Christian Men, and The Community Renewal Society.  He is passionate about the plight of negative media’s influence on our youth.

Nate Sutton

Nathaniel K. Sutton (Nate) is the President and Owner of Sutton Ford Lincoln in Matteson, Illinois and Honda of Kenosha in Bristol, Wisconsin. From small beginnings in Sutton Ford’s first location just south of the Chicago city limits, to one of the most successful auto groups in the Chicagoland area for the past 25 years. It’s no coincidence that Nate Sutton has coupled the ideals of entrepreneurship with community service to help build the surrounding area and city that he loves so dearly. He has shown his commitment by being involved in numerous Community Activities:

Community Activities including Ingalls Hospital Board of Directors, Village of Matteson Economic Development Commission, Board of Governors forOpportunity International: (A Micro Finance Non-profit), and much more. ​

 

Outside of his public commitment to positively contribute to his surrounding community, Nate Sutton is a celebrated business trailblazer. He has used his background in Engineering from Michigan State University and Ford Motor Company Dealer Academy to become one of the most resourceful auto dealers. In his personal time, he still sweeps his high school sweetheart and wife, Mallory off her feet and counsels/mentors/hugs his three adult daughters and Nate also still cheers for the Chicago Bears.

Carlton Guthrie
Chairman

Born in Atlanta and raised in Gary, Indiana, Carlton was valedictorian and president of his high school senior class. He began his career at Harvard University where he received a BA with honors in Economics in 1974. After a brief stint at Philadelphia National Bank, he moved to Procter & Gamble where he was selected District Salesman of the Year after only eight months. He then returned to Harvard and received an MBA in 1978 concentrating in general management. Carlton L. Guthrie is Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of SPECTRA LLC, a Detroit, Michigan based holding company with several automotive manufacturing and engineering subsidiaries.. He is also Chairman of the Board for HealthCure, LLC

Edward Hubbard
Treasurer

Mr. Hubbard has been a committed member and volunteer at his church for over 86 years. Mr. Hubbard ran a successful real estate business on the south side of Chicago for several decades. He is now retired and continues to give back by serving as treasurer, assisting with mentor training, and volunteering as a mentor.

Pastor John Davis

Pastor John Davis the Gospel Truth Ministries. He has served as an ordained minister for 20 years. He is also retired school teacher of Chicago Public Schools 37 years. He has been married for 39 years and has 3 children. He is very passionate about preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the salvation of souls. This passion drives him to be concerned about providing the highest quality of moral training for the young men.

Phillip R. Hampton

Phillip R. Hampton has served as an experienced Administrator and Educator within Chicago for over the past 20 years.  He currently serves as Chief Community and Family Engagement Officer of Chicago Public Schools.  His Office is responsible for leading the engagement efforts with several external stakeholders, including parents, local school councils, community-based organizations, agencies, and the faith-based community.  Mr. Hampton grew up in Chicago’s Englewood community and began his professional career as a Business Education Teacher at DuSable High School.  He later served in numerous leadership capacities for several non-profit organizations, including the Ounce of Prevention Fund.  Among his many accomplishments, he is credited for developing a Back to School Community “Door to Door Campaign” designed to increase student first day attendance.  This initiative resulted in CPS receiving an approximate $18 million increase in state education funding in Year 2006.  Mr. Hampton holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Eastern Illinois University and a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Chicago State University. He is an active member and serves as a Deacon at the Sheldon Heights Church of Christ, and is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, Inc.  He is married to Mrs. Dana E. Hampton, and has three children.

Dr. Prentiss Taylor
Dr. Alfred Tatum

Dr. Alfred Tatum Dr. Alfred Tatum currently serves as College of Education Dean of Students University of Illinois at Chicago. He is a graduate of the Chicago Public Schools and earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education from Northern Illinois University and his master's and Ph.D from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to becoming a professor, Dr. Tatum taught seventh - and eighth-grade students on Chicago's south side and was a reading specialist on Chicago's west side. He fell in love with teaching when he realized he would be charged with shaping the next generation of strong minds. He is also the father of two boys.

Dr. Prentiss Taylor has over 20 years of experience in preventive medicine, medical management, quality improvement and health care leadership. He is the lead physician for the JPMorgan Chase Health & Wellness centers teams in Metro Chicago, representing Advocate Health Care. Dr. Taylor is the medical director of Advocate at Work and Advocate Fitness.
