VOCATIONAL SATURDAY

For the past 10 years, the Concerned Christian Men have sponsored Vocational Saturday, an empowering event that exposes young people to potential careers in various fields and provides them with hands on experience under the guidance of subject matter experts in the various career fields. These sessions are all designed to build student’s self-efficacy while encouraging them to set positive long term goals and dioigently apply themselves in school.

 

Every year we work hard to offer several classes such as culinary, architectural drawing, graphic design, politics / civic engagement, engineering (sponsored by the Northrop Grumman), stock market 101, electricity, auto body, and auto repair. Each class offers a general introduction to the field as well as a class project. This methodology stimulates the minds of our students while also illustrating the interdisciplinary nature of learning.
