The Man-Boy breakfasts were transformative for me at a very crucial time in my development. When I was 17 years old the speakers at the breakfasts inspired me to be the best person I could be. At one breakfast the featured speaker was an unknown State Senator named Barack Obama. I specifically remember him advising all of us, "Commit yourself to a cause larger than yourself." The message resonated with me and continued to guide my thinking through high school, college, and graduate school. After the breakfast, I had a chance to meet the State Senator - I did not know I was shaking hands with the man who would later become President of the United States. The experience motivated me to commit myself to a cause larger than myself - the Concerned Christian Men. I have been a board member and volunteer since 2008.
